Itinerary

You will begin your adventure with an early morning pickup from your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe, where you’ll drive through the scenic countryside towards Queen Elizabeth National Park, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve. Queen Elizabeth is one of Uganda’s most diverse parks, known for its variety of wildlife, including the “Big Four” (lions, elephants, buffalo, and leopards) as well as its unique chimpanzee population.

Upon arrival, you will check into your accommodation, enjoy a delicious lunch, and then embark on an afternoon game drive. During the drive, you will encounter diverse wildlife, such as hippos, crocodiles, antelopes, and various bird species, all while surrounded by the park’s lush savannah landscapes.

On your second day, you’ll start with an early morning game drive in the park, when wildlife is most active. Expect to see large herds of elephants, buffaloes, and a variety of antelope species. Queen Elizabeth is also home to a rich birdlife, including over 600 species, making it a fantastic destination for birdwatching.

After the game drive, you will enjoy a boat safari on the Kazinga Channel, a natural waterway that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. This boat cruise offers fantastic opportunities for spotting aquatic wildlife such as hippos, crocodiles, and various waterbirds. It is also a perfect opportunity to observe elephants and buffaloes coming down to the water to drink.

After the boat safari, you’ll have lunch at the lodge and then begin the journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, known for its incredible biodiversity and the rare mountain gorillas that inhabit the area.

Upon arrival at Bwindi, you will check into your accommodation and have an evening at leisure, preparing for your gorilla trekking experience the following day.

The highlight of your Uganda Wildlife Safari is an early morning trek in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to half of the world’s remaining mountain gorilla population. You’ll be briefed by park rangers on safety procedures before beginning your trek through the dense, mist-covered forest.

The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the location of the gorillas. Once you encounter a family of gorillas, you’ll have an hour to observe them in their natural habitat. This rare and emotional experience of seeing the mountain gorillas up close is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that many travelers describe as life-changing.

After the trek, you’ll return to the park headquarters, where you’ll have the chance to share your experience with fellow trekkers. You’ll then enjoy lunch at the lodge and, depending on your schedule, begin your return journey to Kampala or Entebbe.
